about

Young DJ - Rising Rhythms EP Hailing from South Africa Young DJ has made a name for himself both for his own production but also as an excellent remixer. His music is released by the likes of Arawakan, AfroSoul Records, Toupee Records, Gruv Manics Digital SA, Gentle Soul Records just to mention a few. His releases has gotten into the Traxsource hype and genre charts on several occasions, just because Young DJ delivers quality music. Nuff said! This time he has gone deep. Real deep. Three stunning deep afro house tracks perfect for those late nite sets. This EP is about that sacred formula of the hypnotic loop. That one chord that just works. And spinning back and forth from that center. Young DJ puts that formula to work on all three tracks, first off Escape The Loop featuring deep stabs, chants, a simple yet effective bassline and delicate beats. I Came To Funk is named after the vocal sample used, a pulsating pad float around and the bass picks up the energy, again with very elegant afrohouse beats. To end the Rising Rhythms Ep we got Thougthless which picks up the pace a bit more, incorporating techy sounds but never goes tech house. The percussion is more prominent and its a perfect closing of this stunning EP from Young DJ On remix duties Doug Gomez delivers a trippy jazzy journey into pure deepness with his reinterpretation of Escape The Loop. On this stunning piece of music stretching out over twelve minutes, Anthony K. delivers an amazing synth solo over Dougs excellent production, which starts off with a groovy bassline backed by excellent afro latin percussion. The track catches you from the start and you know you need to listen to the end on this one. Amazing work by Doug Gomez of the fantastic Merecumbe Records. Again we are lucky to have the dynamic duo that is Djeli delivering a funky take on We Came To Funk. Starting off very atmospheric with deep flutes, bird flutter, a woodblock picking up the pace and evolving into a funky piece of afrohouse. Again you gotta love the keyboard work. A hammong chord is teasing for a long time, but come back with stabs and a solo at the end. Another fantastic release by Djeli. We hope you like this EP and will be very appreciative if you give us a charting if you do. It means the world to the artists we release and to a new small indie label like Stellar Disco Records. Keep a look out for more great releases from SDR.
